Shiver Me Timbers!

Hey guys! Jennifer here… Carole asked me to share a little with you about the recent writing workshops we had here at Gallopade. A rollicking good time was had by more then 40 writers-in-training at the Big Pencil Pirate Writing Workshops! “AAARRRRRRGGGGGG!!!!” echoed through the halls every time an adult passed by the writing workshop doors. The instigator, author Cap’n Carole Marsh, was giving her mates all of the secrets, tips, and tricks they need to make their writing stand out. Aside from the pirate talk, WOW! was the word of the day. WOW! Words and WOW! Writing was the treasure that followed these kids out the door. Here is what a few buckaroos had to say: “It was a learning experience that was fun, not like boring school.” – Kendall, 11 “Instead of using regular adjectives and verbs, Carole Marsh taught me to make the readers’ minds be blown away by using WOW! words.” – Jordyn, 12 “WOW! words like ‘matey’ make my writing way cooler.” – Shane, 7 “Carole Marsh made me want to write when I didn’t want to before I went to the workshop. She helped give me ideas and showed me how to make them better and how to write a book out of my ideas.” – Jayme, 9
